Colleen’s personal story

Colleen Plowman
I was seven months pregnant and had a mole on my upper left arm that had always been there. But now it itched and when I scratched it, it bled.

I asked my OB/GYN to remove it and after hesitating, she did. A week later she called and told me to come back in for a visit. She told me it was treatable, but I'd have to go to a dermatologist. I did, and then they removed more and sent me to University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

They removed more and got it all. Now I have to go in every six months to have them check my moles and since then, I've had 29 removed! Some came back as cells that were changing.

I tell all my clients about my scar if they ask or it comes up, and I always warn young girls when they look tan. I'm taking care of my family's skin as well as mine better by always using sunscreen and staying out of the sun for extended periods of time.
