Suzanne’s personal story

Suzanne Travis
Ironically, I am an oncology RN with a long history of multiple basal and squamous skin cancers. I currently am temporarily out on disability from my UCLA floor RN job due to a skin graft on my finger. This is the third skin graft on my left hand, and I am currently waiting for pathology results from a biopsy on my right hand.

I grew up in sunny Los Angeles and am the typical light-complexion candidate for this type of cancer. I have lost count of how many Mohs procedures I have had, as well as sutured areas all over my body.

I now wear protective gear as much as possible, but of course the damage is done. I am 57 years old, married with two teens. I have been out of work the last two months while the skin graft on my finger heals.
