What is the AAD Good Skin Knowledge Community Grant Program?
The Good Skin Knowledge Community Grant awards up to $1,000 to non-profit and community-based organizations in underserved areas to deliver Good Skin Knowledge lesson plan training to children ages 8-13 in their community.
What are the requirements for the grant?
To be considered, applicants must:
Qualify as an underserved community per the HHS definition.*
Deliver training with children ages 8-13.
Obtain signed waivers/consent forms from all participants.
Sign letter of agreement with AAD.
Submit a report after the training that includes the number of students trained.
Agree to purchase all supplies needed to support STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) activities to use during training sessions with students.
Work with a designated AAD affiliate (member, resident, student), who will help deliver training virtually. The AAD will help pair the organization with someone to work with.
Deliver all four session modules: The skin, sun safety, acne, and bugs and plants.
Deliver all training by December 31, 2022.
*The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) characterizes underserved, vulnerable, and special needs populations as communities that include members of minority populations or individuals who have experienced health disparities.
Latino populations, African American populations, AI/AN populations, Refugees, Individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP), Individuals with disabilities.

How much is the grant amount?
The Good Skin Knowledge Community Grant will be awarded up to $1,000.
Grants of $500 for groups up to 100 students and $1,000 for groups up to 250 students.
When will the grant application be available online to apply?
The application will open January 1, 2022 and close on March 31, 2022.
When will recipients of the grant be notified?
Recipients of the Good Skin Knowledge Community Grant will be notified by the end of March 2022.
How many grant recipients are announced each year?
The number of grant recipients announced each year is dependent on the availability of funding.
How do I find someone to help me with the lesson plan training?
The AAD will help match your organization to a dermatologist or medical student in your area for support.
Where do I purchase materials and supplies for the training?
A list of needed supplies to be purchased will be provided at the time the grant is accepted. Supplies can be found online or at a local craft and general merchandise store.
