Diversity Mentorship Program: Information for mentors

Program description

Through this one-on-one mentorship program, volunteer mentors provide medical students with hands-on exposure in the field of dermatology and help stimulate interest in dermatology as an obtainable career choice.

Each medical student is required to complete a one-month, 160-hour mentorship with his or her volunteer mentor by December 1 of the current award year.

Become a mentor

The mentorship is open to a variety of practice settings, including academic, private practice, research, surgical dermatology, etc.

The Diversity Task Force will select a mentor they feel will work well with the medical student(s) chosen for the award cycle. The AAD provides a database of mentor profiles that assist the task force in the selection process. However, an applicant may select a mentor on the list for consideration, and they may be in contact with you before they submit their application. Applications are due by November 1.
