Residents and early-career physicians partnership opportunities
Dermatology residents and fellows receive complimentary membership to the AAD. Additionally, the Academy offers tools and resources to help young physicians transition from residency to practice.
Career Launch Boot Camp | Career Launch Boot Camp supports early-career physicians twice a year as they transition into dermatology practice and the Boot Camps are available for CME credit. The program delivers a practical introduction to Academy resources, covering important financial factors related to personal and business investing, tips and tricks to avoid pitfalls related to billing and coding, and the power of social media for promoting a personal brand and a practice. Recognition may include name recognition on the Boot Camp’s webpage and signage. The supporter may send up to two representatives to observe one of the Boot Camps. | Multiple supporters, starting at $35,000. | Available |
DermWorld Directions in Residency | DermWorld Directions in Residency is an 8-page newsletter published by the Academy and delivered quarterly to all graduate members (an audience of approximately 1,900). A print version is mailed, and a digital replica is emailed via the quarterly, targeted resident edition of DermWorld Weekly. Both print and digital versions of Directions in Residency are delivered quarterly (4 times per year) and provide residents with content to prepare for their transition into practice. Recognition may include a one-page promotional ad and sponsor mention in the printed newsletter and logo recognition in the resident edition of the quarterly DermWorld Weekly (last open rate over 50%). | Sole supporter, $75,000 for the year. | Available |
| DermWorld Young Physician Focus | DermWorld Young Physician Focus is published to provide early-career dermatologists with the most relevant news, information, and resources to overcome the challenges of practicing dermatology and establish a thriving career. | Essentials of Cosmetic Dermatology for Residents | This two-day course held in the fall combines didactic lecture and live demonstration for dermatology residents. The course will help dermatology residents assess the benefits and risks of performing procedures commonly used in cosmetic dermatology, educate patients about appropriate skin care associated with these procedures, and perform common cosmetic procedures. Recognition may include name or logo recognition on onsite signage and course materials and logo recognition on the reception signage. | Multiple supporters, starting at $25,000. | Available |
| Leadership Forum | The Leadership Forum is a critical component of the Academy’s Leadership Institute and attendees of this highly interactive weekend must have completed at least one-year of post-dermatology residency/fellowship training. Early-career dermatologists attend the AAD’s Leadership Forum, November 12-14, 2021, for hands-on learning experiences to advance leadership and communication skills and networking opportunities with peers and Academy leaders. Recognition may include name or logo recognition on the Leadership Forum and Advanced Leadership Forum webpages, and logo recognition on badges, lanyards, signage, and program books. | Multiple supporters, (includes the Advanced Leadership Forum as well), starting at $50,000. | Available |
| Resident Access to Education | The Academy’s Resident Access to Education program ensures that over 1,000 residents in dermatology benefit from attending sessions during the largest dermatologic scientific meeting in the world, AAD Annual Meeting. Residents are exposed to the latest research and gain knowledge and skills that cannot be found in the classroom. Recognition may include name recognition in the letters to residents. | Multiple supporters, starting at $25,000. | Available |
| Volunteer Opportunities for Residents | Two volunteer programs are currently available to residents. Through the Resident International Grant Program, fifteen dermatology residents from the United States and Canada complete an international elective in Botswana, Peru, South Africa and Nepal, educating primary healthcare workers on the basics of dermatology and helping develop a year-round teledermatology network. Through the Native American Health Services Resident Rotation, four dermatology residents from the United States volunteer for a 1- to 2-week rotation in Chinle, Arizona at a government run facility for the Navajo Nation population. Recognition for these programs may include logo placement in correspondence to grant recipients, web-based application, AAD website, and AAD publications. | Multiple supporters | Available |
